AliveCor gets the honors as its Kardiaband becomes the first medical device accessory for the Apple Watch

The AliveCor Kardiaband has been in use in Europe for a long time and has finally gotten approval for use in the United States.

This is pivotal for Apple because this is the first time that an Apple Watch accessory is able to be labeled and used a medical device in the United States.

The device works by being inserted into a slot on the Apple Watch band and paired with an app to detect abnormal heart rhythm and atrial fibrillation (AFib).

This allows you can get an EKG reading continuously and discreetly just by touching the band’s integrated sensor.
